DoT requests that Elon Musk’s Starlink stop appointments, says ‘not a licencee’

 The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has censured Elon Musk’s Starlink Internet Services for pre-selling and booking of the satellite based internet providers without having gotten the vital licenses in the nation, and requested that it “cease from booking/delivering the satellite internet providers in India with quick impact”. 

In an official statement late on Friday, the DoT said that Starlink Internet Services, a division of SpaceX, was not “authorized to offer satellite-based internet providers in India being publicized to people in general”. 

“It is thus educated to people in general on the loose that the said organization has not acquired any permit/approval for delivering satellite based internet providers that are being set up for their site. In like manner, the Government has requested that the organization follow the Indian administrative system for delivering the satellite based correspondence administrations and shun booking/delivering the satellite internet providers in India with prompt impact,” the DoT said. 

Starlink didn’t react to questions looking for its reaction on the DoT public statement which requested that the organization shun offering pre-deal reserving for satellite-based internet providers.
